Dark Flowers

FlowersLoRes
"Dark Flowers" by Wes Aldridge

This is a similar setup to the portrait of Jarvis that appeared last night. One of my co-workers wanted some flowers shot, so I obliged. She thought I would just do a simple point-and-click, but oh no. When we shoot, we do it for real.

For some reason, I think this shot turned out something similar to the art in the latest White Stripes album. The mix of crimson, black and white is interesting and very difficult to color balance correctly. It gives the beautiful vase of flowers a sinister feel. They are vivid and bright summer colors, but mix them with the mood of the setting and lighting and they become dark and evil.

That flowers are wonderful!
But I don't agree a tiny bit with you that there is something dark or evil or sinister in that pic!!!
To my mind it is simply expressive...
